This week, we finished up our shaders (water, metal, and stone), did some work on our level of detail, blocked out and started on our new plane, and finished some models for civilizations that will be found throughout the game.
We’ve started pushing hard again after a burnout-induced slow-down. It feels good to be full-throttle. Also, the drizzle these last few days have been nice.

I really like the plane prototype as it looks quite bird-like, somewhat organic. Wouldn’t mind real birds or some kind of flying creature rediscovering a world where civilization had it’s chance and lost it. Well, doesn’t sound so good but as in aspects of creating a world to discover, do you think there might be fauna? For now, I don’t know how interesting the ancient culture will become. And I like animals. (I might just be kinda simple-minded)
We were aiming for somewhere between flying fish and bird!
Yeah, the goal is to create a pretty diverse fauna, we want to spend a lot of time making the bubbles feel alive and thriving. We’re as interested in the wild-life as we are in human activity within the bubbles.
Ancient cultures will wind up being plot/story discovery and fauna will be world-building.
Well that is if they are human xD

No that is a great idea xD Games are a medium in which you can discover new ideas which you aren’t just a second hand viewer to. Having a game where the player is a creature that inhabits a once lively planet is very interesting. Depending on the time frame the creature probably wouldn’t think much of the left over ruins that are the only legacy of a dead civilization. We were definitely going for bird like or flying fish like wait till you see the animations! and yes we plan on having lots of plants and creatures that inhabit the world. We already modeled and animated some manta rays and plan on doing some birds as well. We want to give the animals characteristics make them do things to feel alive like the birds fly away from the manta rays while the manta rays try and hunt the birds. thanks for commenting!
Whoo, Manta Rays! I mean, it sounds great and makes the world a lively place. I’m really curious about upcoming posts now, like the animations you mentioned. This game has potential! (And I like the idea of possibly influencing the creators of such a promising game a tiny little bit. 😀 )
